So this brunch excursion is actually from a long time ago (November 9th according to my phone), but it is one that I dream about so much that naturally, it would make sense to share about it here. If you've seen any articles headlining "Top 10 Brunch Spots in NYC" then you've probably noticed that Cafe Orlin is not only a frequent contender, but also the topper of such lists. If you haven't noticed this heavenly place and neither do you have a yelp account (shame on you!) then it is my duty to educate you. Cafe Orlin is this extremely scrumptious brunch spot in East Village and should be on any food enthusiast's list. There is one caveat, however. With popularity comes long wait times and when we arrived, there was a 40 minute wait. Luckily for us, it was kind of chilly (jk it was cold) on that day so there was only a 5 minute wait for outside seating. Right away, we ordered some coffee/tea, which came in this adorable upside-down-lightbulb-esque container that warmed us right up and made us feel super posh. And then, the main attraction had arrived: my eggs florentine. The eggs were poached just right, the sauce wasn't too dense, and the potatoes on the side were not greasy nor overcooked to mush aka perfection. We were so satisfied with our meal that we didn't want to get up, but alas we had plans to go to the MOMA and all of that art was calling out to us. I wish I could eat at Cafe Orlin everyday, but I'm unfortunately too broke to be a repeat offender when there are literally millions of restaurants in the city. Until then looking at these pictures will just have to suffice. T.T |
