shakshuka! (also pls don't kill me for that horrible title thx) Au Za'atar is an extremely charming French Arabian restaurant (exciting combination, I know!) in the East Village and was the locale of the week for my New York City brunch excursions. Everyone I was with was cooing when they saw and tasted their food, which is always a great sign when trying out new restaurants. I opted for the the shakshuka, which came with some really delicious pita, (as pictured below). What really won me over, however, was not the delectable, cocaine-laced hummus (it was so addictive!) but the extremely nice management. The waiter had forgotten to bring our peach bellinis and so when we inquired about them when our meal was almost over, not only did he bring it out, but the manager also came to apologise and gave us free dessert (I'm pretty sure it was baklava, but I'm not positive haha), which was honestly so tasty I almost ordered another plate for myself! I only wish there were more vegetarian options on their brunch menu, but I'll do with what I got :) |
